Lawrence William Gramm Obituary
Lawrence William Gramm passed away at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.

He was born on Flag Day June 14, 1919 to Gottlieb and Lydia Stutz Gramm on the family farm north of Bethune.

He was baptized, confirmed and continued to be a member of the Hope Congregational Church.

He attended Prairie View Country School through the 8th grade. He then started working on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army in January 1942.

He served during World War II and was honorably discharged in November 1945; he returned to continue working on the family farm.

Lawrence's interests included his cattle and farming. His usual routine included going to the cattle sales every week.

He participated in the local Cattleman's Association and was a Charter Member of VFW Post No. 6491.

Lawrence was a very active member of the Cooties. He enjoyed delivering flowers on Sundays to the hospital residents, shut ins and nursing homes and fruit baskets at Christmas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gottlieb and Lydia Stutz Gramm, brother Loyd and wife Fern, brother Edmund and wife Esther, sister Elma Schaal and husband Ted, brother-in-law Mervin Corliss and nephew Verlin Corliss.

He is survived by his sister Esther Corliss and many nieces and nephews and their extended families.

Memorials may be made in his name to Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital, VFW Post 6491/Cooties or Hope Congregational Church and may be left at or sent to Frontier Bank, 107 South 14th St., P.O. Box 700, Burlington, CO 80807.

Funeral services for Lawrence were held on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Hope Congregational Church north of Bethune with Pastor Riley Fraas officiating.

Burial followed in the Hope Cemetery, Bethune.

Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Hope Congregational Church.
