DOUGLAS JAMES - JAY - Douglas James, 63, of Jay, beloved partner of Margaret Loux, passed away suddenly in Newport on March 5, 2012. Doug was a retired sergeant of the Vermont State Police, former member of the Jay Peak Ski Patrol and founder and current Fire Chief of the Jay Volunteer Fire Dept. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Rd., Newport, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Doug was one of the first Troopers that I met when I reported to Derby back in 1973. I worked with Doug until his retirement and learned so much from him. He loved Jay and was so proud of the Fire Department.

Our Condolences to Peggy and Doug's family. He will be greatly missed by many. He was a great person. Al served in the Fire Dept and worked Bingo with Doug for many years. He was always enjoyable to be around.
