RITA PARENT Obituary

RITA MARY PAULE (RAINVILLE) PARENT - WEST ENOSBURGH - Rita Mary Paule (Rainville) Parent, age 84, wife of George W. Parent, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in the Northwestern Medical Center. She was born Jan. 24, 1928, in Franklin, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Alsyma (Tarte) Rainville. Rita was a dedicated communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and had played the organ. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her family and friends will remember her as being gentle, humble and always putting others first. She loved family gatherings and making sure her company was fed well. Rita had an incredible memory of remembering everyone's birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially 500, and solving crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband, George W. Parent of West Enosburgh. Rita and George were married May 29, 1948. She is also survived by her 13 children and their spouses, Robert S. and Diane Parent of Sheldon, Patricia and James Keefe of Bel Air, Md., David L. and Susan Parent of Gouverneur, N.Y., Alan T. Parent of Bensalem, Pa., Denise and Gale Messier of St. Albans, Dianne and Leonard Parent of St. Albans, Gloria Parent of Glastonbury, Conn., Norman V. and Pamela Parent of Burke, N.Y., Rene and Melissa Parent of Portland, Ore., Anthony Parent of Hyde Park, Marcel V. Parent and Betsy Larose of West Enosburgh, Martha E. and Tim Magnant of Franklin, and Gisele and Chris Stimpson of West Enosburgh; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings and their spouses, Andrew and Imogene Rainville of Franklin, Aline and Claude Magnant of St. Albans, Roger and Denise Rainville of St. Albans, and Clement and Betty Rainville of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by a daughter, Doris Parent; grandson, Matthew Parent; and brother, Richard Rainville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 222 Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls, with the Rev. Roger Charbonneau and Rita's cousin, the Rev. Marcel Rainville, SSE, con-celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
