SANDRA LEE SHEPARD - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Sandra Lee Shepard, 73, died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, in Fletcher Allen Health Care after a long decline in health. Sandy is now free and at peace. She was born in Burlington on July 29, 1940, the daughter of George T. Shepard and Norma (Lyman) Shepard. Sandy attended school locally and graduated from Burlington (Edmonds) High School, Class of 1959. Her lifelong journey took her on many paths as she was employed by Abernathy's, IBM, Around Town Bakery, Grand Union, and Paw Prints. At one point she moved to Fishkill, N.Y., with IBM, coming back home upon her first retirement, only to keep going at some of the above businesses. She was Treasurer of Twin Oaks Condo Assoc., and a member of South Burlington Senior Citizen's Group. Sandy's fun personality made her many, many friends in her social life, and they were all very important to her. Sandy leaves her children, whom she loved dearly, son, Scott T. Morse of Westford, and daughter, Wendy Morse Bellows and husband, Rick Bellows, of Grand Isle; and grandchildren, Grace Morse and Emily Bellows. She also leaves behind brother, Richard L. Shepard and wife, Phoebe, of Prescott, Ariz.; sister, Susan S. Hayes and husband, Roger, of Vergennes; many loving nieces that were a big part of her life, Stacy Taylor, Gretchen Shepard, and Krista Shepard of California, Carrie H. Johnson of St. Albans, Shelly A. Hayes of Colcester, and Allyson H. Zegardski of Leonardtown, Md.; many grandnieces and nephews, Nicole, Lindsey, Stephanie, Samatha, Jessie, Jacob, Corey, Shepard, Eric, Roger, Ellen, Megan, Sophia, Will, Jacob, and Gus; her last living aunt, Hattie (Sisters) Lyman of Maple, N.Y.; and all the Lyman cousins, especially, David Lyman of Hinesburg, Betty Lyman Dawson of Williston, and JoAnne Shepard Frede of Tempe, Ariz; and the father of her children, Reginald Morse of Westford. We would like to recognize her special friends and can't possibly reach out to everyone. Her lifelong friend from "Caroline Street," Judy Lyons of Williston; her New York connections, Tizzer and David Burke; all the South Burlington friends and neighbors, including Mary Jane Plante, who watched over her at Twin Oaks, and many more. She was predeceased by her parents; and aunts and uncles of both the Lyman and Shepard families, especially, Ellen Lyman Edie and husband, Bud, and Marjorie and William Shepard. A graveside service will be held at Resurrection Park Cemetery, 200 Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow. Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 71 So. Union St., Burlington, are in care of arrangements. Contributions in Sandy's memory may be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
