ROSE S. (LABELL) CROSS - MILTON - Rose S. (LaBell) Cross, 92, died Friday, July 25, 2014, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born Nov. 8, 1921, in East Fairfield, the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Messier) LaBell. On March 1, 1938, she married Oliver "John" Cross Jr. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Albans. Oliver and Rose farmed together for many years. She enjoyed doing housework, and worked for many years as a cook for the Fanny Allen Hospital in Colchester. Rose belonged to the Arrowhead Seniors in Milton, was a proud member of AARP, and very proud of the fact that she lived to see five generations of her offspring. She is survived by her children, Josephine Pelletier of Milton, Pauline Gordon and her husband, Leland, of Jeffersonville, and Arlon Cross and his wife, Caroline, of Milton; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including her special nephew, Donald Labelle of Michigan. She also leaves a close friend, Joe Root. She was predeceased by her husband, John; their children, Ila Barrows and her husband, Keith, Marie Brunet and her husband, Gerard, and infant daughter, Phyllis; son-in-law, George Pelletier; grandchildren, Mitchell Barrows and Timmy Gordon; great-grandson, Jeremy Legacy; siblings, Gladys and Cassie Mobbs, Maurice and Charles LaBell, Oliver Labelle, Ethel Ashline and Mary LaFountain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton, with Fr. John Feltz, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albans. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton. Prayers will be offered at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home by Fr. Feltz. MARION M. CHAMPAGNE - SOUTH HERO - Marion M. Champagne, 85, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Marion was born on Sept. 27, 1928, in Grand Isle, the daughter of Arthur and Ellen (Burnham) Parker. She was a telephone operator with Bell Telephone when she met her future husband, William Andre Champagne. They married on Oct. 30, 1954. Together, they started Keeler's Bay Variety in South Hero and later, with their son, Bill, started A&B Beverage in Grand Isle. Marion was a very successful entrepreneur who retired at 78 years old. She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Parish, where she was a very active member. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, dancing with Andre, knitting, boating, fishing, gardening, puzzles and puzzle books. She had a great faith in God and her loving nature will be carried on by her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Marion is survived by her daughters, Andrea M. Champagne of South Hero; and Teresa Abell and husband, Scott, of Colorado Springs, Colo., their children, Chris Abell, Matthew Abell, Danielle and husband, Billy Skeele, and Nicole and husband, Jon Kullander, and their sons, Christian and Riley; son, Bill Champagne Jr. and his partner, Noni Stuart, of Grand Isle, and Bill's daughters of late wife, JoAnne, Claudette Vaughan and her husband, Ross, and his children and grandchild, and Michelle Sendra and her husband, Kevin, their children, Auburn and Dresden; and daughter, Nancy Turner and husband, Tony, of Luray, Va., and their children, Ellyn Poquette, Anthony Turner and his sons, Bradley and Andrew, Sheri and husband, Dustin Scott, and their children, Kaitlynn and Kelsey, Johnny Turner and partner, Kori, and their son, Blayke. Marion is also survived by her sister-inlaw, Brenda Plattner of St. Albans; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her husband, William Andre Champagne, in 1993; and siblings, Ida, Kenneth, Charles, Edmund, Evelyn, Ruth, Barbara, Clara, and Albert. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m., with a memorial service at 4 p.m. in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton. MARY AGNES CAMPBELL - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Mary Agnes Campbell, 84, of South Burlington, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014, in Fletcher Allen Health Care, in Burlington. She was born Oct. 2, 1929, the daughter of Samuel and Bernadette (Stannard) Thomas. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School class of 1947. On July 1, 1967, she was married in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception to Harold Campbell. He predeceased her in 1984. Mary was employed at the Burlington Police Department from 1961 to 1998 as secretary to seven Police Chiefs. She was a diehard New York Yankees fan and had a great sense of humor. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia A. Thomas of Burlington; also several cousins. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Thomas, in 2008. A special thanks goes to Darlene Peters and Carol Hathaway for their loving care and concern. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.
