BEVERLY J. ROCKWOOD

BEVERLY J. ROCKWOOD - BURLINGTON - Early Saturday morning, Feb. 8, 2014, we lost an amazing woman. Beverly J. Rockwood (Mead), 62, was taken from us all too quickly. Beverly was born on July 29, 1951, in Winooski. She was the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Lucille Mead. She joins her late husband, David M. Rockwood, and late loving son, Jeffrey W.E. Rockwood, in her final journey. She was a truly amazing matriarch, the heart and soul of our family. When she spoke you better listen, which no one had a problem doing. She was the rock; having gone through so many hardships through her own life, she was always there for those in need. Beverly will always be remembered as a strong and loving woman who lived life, never holding back, and enjoying every moment spent with her family and friends. Her favorite place to be was in Churubusco, N.Y., her own piece of heaven on earth. She and David found the beautiful piece of land and created their own little paradise, sharing it with family and friends. Uncountable great times, stories, and memories were created there to last a lifetime. She began her working career at Millbrook Bread, followed by Howard Johnson, careers which led her to become a savvy and knowledgeable business owner of the Old North End Variety and Simply Marvelous Bridal Boutique. She left the bridal boutique and began working at FAHC, until she retired in 2011. Beverly was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her children, Tammy Nadeau and partner, John, Todd Rockwood and wife, Carrie, Jill Rockwood and partner, Phillip; 11 grandchildren, Mark Thomas, Sarah and Michael Nadeau; Brandon, Taylor, Kyle, Gage and Sophia Rockwood; Amber, Lindsay, Tyler and Zachary Rockwood; daughter-in-law, Tausha Rockwood; three sisters, Pauline and Bernie Gratton, Betty Mead, and Maryanne Mead; four brothers, Ernest Mead, William and Rita Mead, Robert Mead, and Richard and Laura Mead; many nephews and nieces; extended family members; and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband, David M. Rockwood; son, Jeffrey W.E. Rockwood; parents, Ellsworth and Lucille Mead; and brothers, Ellsworth, Donald, and David Mead. We would like to say thank you to Beverly's sisters, Betty and Mary. Although the past few months were extremely stressful and trying at times, the three of you shared a bond like no other. Bev wanted to extend a special thanks to Dr. Nunnik for his continued efforts and caring throughout her illness. She also wanted to recognize and thank Molly Backup and Dr. Skidd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Beverly to the BHS Drama Club, c/o BHS, 52 Institute Road, Burlington, VT 05401. As a lifetime resident of Burlington, Bev looked forward to their November show. Contributions may also be made to the North Avenue Alliance Church that offers so much more than a moving sermon. At this time, per Beverly's wishes, there will be no visiting hours or service. Arrangements are by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors.
