SISTER CLARISSE BRISSETTE S.P.

SISTER CLARISSE BRISSETTE, S.P. - WINOOSKI - Sister Clarisse Brissette, S.P., 88, of Winooski, died peacefully on Thursday, Oct, 25, 2012, at Our Lady of Providence Convent. Sister Clarisse was born in Providence, R.I., on Nov. 9, 1923, the eldest daughter of a family of six children born to Francis E. and Almeda Leda (Paquin) Brissette. She received her B.A. in Education from the College of Great Falls, Mont. She retired from her teaching career in 1990, putting a term to an impressive 52 years devoted to the education of children. Sister Clarisse is survived by her brother, Wilfred Brissette; two sisters, Yvette Poore and Sr. Simone Brissette, S.P.; many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, also great-grandnephews, and great-grandnieces; and her Religious Sisters of Providence, Religious Hospitalers of St. Joseph, and the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa. She was predeceased by her brother, Alphonse Brissette; and her sister, Monique Brissette. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Our Lady of Providence Chapel in Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Providence Chapel, on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are with LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St. in Winooski. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier School, 5 St. Peter St., Winooski, VT 05404.
