DONALD R. GILLESPIE -- AUBURN, N.Y. - Donald R. Gillespie, 79, of Auburn, N.Y., formerly of Skaneateles, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in Mercy Health and Rehab. Born in Boston, he owned and operated DG Restaurant in Elbridge, N.Y., and International Business Products in Syracuse, N.Y., until his retirement in 1983. Don was a life member of the Syracuse Elks Club
and former member of the Knights of Columbus and Pastime Club. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirley Gillespie; daughters, Claudia Gillespie of Auburn, N.Y., and Lynn (Michael) Malone of Liverpool, N.Y.; sons, David (Chun) Gillespie of Stafford, Va., and Brian (Jean) Gillespie of Auburn, N.Y.; sister, Eileen Loucks of Potsdam, N.Y.; brothers, Richard of Nashua, N.H., and Paul of Burlington; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Mercy Rehab for the care they showed Don. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at St. Alphonsus Church, Auburn, N.Y. The Right of Committal will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles, N.Y. Friends may call on the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, 49 Jordan St., Skaneateles, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mercy Health and Rehab.
