FLORENCE BEVINS MELICK - MIDDLETOWN, N.J. - Florence Bevins Melick, 92, of Middletown, N.J., passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013. During World War II, Florence served as hospital dietitian with the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. She was a graduate of the University of Vermont, and Rutgers University where she received her master's degree. She was a Nutritionist for the Department of Health, State of N.J., retiring in 1987. Florence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank - Tower Hill where she belonged to the Elizabeth Circle. She was also a member of the American Dietetic Association, the NJ Nutritionist Council, and a past president of the North, South and NJ Dietetic Association. Florence is survived by her husband of 66 years, George F.; son, Robert of Red Bank, N.J.; three daughters, Linda and husband, William Reynolds, of Flemington, N.J., Judith Melick of Long Branch, N.J., and Karen Melick and wife, Clare Thomas, of Santa Monica, Calif.; brother, Malcom Bevins of Etowah, N.C.; two sisters, Claire Rogers of Burlington, Vt., and Helen Merriman of Mukilteo, Wash.; and six grandchildren, Emily, Dean, Kelly, Keith, David and Gregory. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank, N.J. Interment is private. A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank-Tower Hill, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank.
