HEIDEROSE SCHULTZ Obituary

HEIDEROSE SCHULTZ ESSEX JUNCTION - April 1, 1945 - Feb. 20, 2013 - Heiderose Ziegler was born in Calw in the Black Forest region of Germany. She relocated with her family, first to Winnipeg, Canada. After two years, they moved to the Glendale neighborhood of New York City. She graduated from the Rudolph Steiner School, and worked briefly on Wall Street. Later, Heidi embarked on a new career path working as a stewardess as the aviation industry got its start. She was based in Texas and California, and traveled the world extensively, including Europe, Southeast Asia and South America. During the Vietnam War, her employer was contracted to transport troops and she flew regularly to Guam, Midway and Vietnam. She met and later married a pilot, Bruce Edward Schultz. They had two children, Kimberly and Logan, and resided in New York and Ohio, before finding their way to Vermont. After retiring from the airline business, Heidi trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She had a lifelong interest in nutrition and naturopathic medicine. While in Vermont, she worked in hospitality and later in the call center at Fletcher Allen hospital. Throughout her adult life, she fought debilitating Rheumatoid Arthritis. Despite her chronic pain, Heidi was continually upbeat and giving, always putting others first. She cared for husband Bruce, after his diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. Later, she became the primary caregiver for her aging parents, Liesel and Emil, who lived well into their 90s, and with her help were able to remain in their home in rural Vermont. Heidi's loving spirit was apparent to all who knew her. She made friends wherever she went and always gave freely of herself to others. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and finally, grandmother. Heidi was a tremendous example of strength, determination, courage and grace in the face of much adversity. She found the good in everything. After a lengthy battle with Breast Cancer, our Heiderose found peace on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at age 67. She is survived by her son, Logan Schultz of Essex Junction; daughter, Kimberly Schultz and husband, John Beresny, of Vienna, Va.; two grandchildren, Owen and Avery Schultz Beresny; nieces and nephews, Nicole Hedrick and husband, John, of Wake Forest, N.C., Jacqueline Halbig of Alexandria, Va., and Mark Halbig of Greer, S.C.; great-nieces and nephews, Amanda Stell, Michael Stell, Vanessa Halbig, and Jenna Stell; cousins, Bridget Loetterle, Helen Lannigan, Frederick Loetterle, Martin Loetterle, Joseph Loetterle, Patricia O'Leary, Erna Kling, Michaela Ohmes, and Daniela Kress. Heiderose was also predeceased by her husband, Bruce; sister, Elfriede and husband, Ernst Halbig; and her parents, Emil and Liesel Ziegler. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Essex Chapel, 57 Main Street, Essex Junction, VT 05452. A memorial service will be held at a future date and time to be announced. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Dear Logan and family,

Sending our regards up to you all. You & our son Ryan were school friends and I clearly recall going over to pick him up at your house on Main St. and watching your Mom administer bee venom therapy to her self. Such a brave woman. She lives on in all of you. Take care of each other.

Please sccept my condolences at the passing away of Heidi. I reside in Germany and have not seen the family much in recent years and so this comes as quite a surprise--though I knew of her condition. Heidi taught me many important life lessons with her example of courage, endurance, determination, sense of duty, love of family with actions and not just words, and many other important qualities.

I realize now how much she meant to me and I am sure that others feel the same. She was a quiet, active, intelligent, and humble soul who was unique as a person and irreplaceable.

I pray that her kind soul finds rest and peace after much suffering in this world. I wish that Logan and Kimberly always remember their mother continually and they find comfort in this time of trial.

Heidi was such a brave woman and I admired her so much. She was a tax client of my husbands and both thought very much of her. We enjoyed her coming to our home. She struggled so much to getting around and never complained. My thoughts are prayers are with her family. Betty C. Kelly

I would like to express my condolences to Logan, Kimberly and all of Heide's family and friends.
The sparkle in her eyes and the radiance of her smile revealed the beauty of her soul. Heide was a lovely person. I knew her from her many trips to the hospital for appointments. She was loved by everyone. She always asked how you were doing in a genuine and heartfelt manner. Heide was the kind of person we aspire to be. She was kind and gracious in the face of adversity. The depth of her humanity was evident in her devotion and care of her parents. So, though we mourn her loss, we value and cherish her values and example of generosity of spirit that we should continue to emulate.

I'd never met Ms. Schultz, but saw her frequently at the post office. I was wondering about her just yesterday as I hadn't seen her for awhile. I admired the strength and courage she always displayed. My sympathy to her family.
