JAMES E. "JIM" FRANCIS - BURLINGTON - James E. "Jim" Francis, 81, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 1, 2014, with his loving family by his side after a brief illness. Jim was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Burlington, to Prosper and Gladys (Trayah) Francis, and lived all his life in Burlington. Jim was a veteran, having served in the Army
during the Korean War
. He was a welder by trade, and worked for VT Structural Steel for 40-plus years. He also worked for Commercial Pipe and Marcelino Construction. He was an avid golfer who liked to give tips to his friends on how to improve their game. He also liked to go fishing, play the lottery and putter in the garden. He married his loving wife, Kathleen (Robear), on Nov. 5, 1955. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, of 59 years; six children, James M. and wife, Judy, of Fairfield, Paul and wife, Kim, of Georgia, David and partner, Donna, of Williston, Karen and partner, Marc, of Randolph, Tommy of Burlington, and Lynn (Willette) and husband, Paul, of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Herbert and wife, Shirley; brother, Donald; sister, Rosalie; sister, Joan Tyner and husband, Jon; brother-in-law, Leonard Robear and wife, Mary; sister-in-law, Anne Lavoie and husband, Lucien; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; six brothers; and four sisters. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of FAHC 4th floor Shepardson for the exceptional and loving care they gave our husband and father. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, July 6, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home, 85 No. Winooski Ave., Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. Interment will follow in Old Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors.
