JANET QUINN Obituary

JANET (GOODRIDGE) QUINN - JONESVILLE - Janet Goodridge Quinn left this earth celebrating life and love with her family on July 6, 2013. Janet was born on Oct. 21, 1930, in Plainfield, the daughter of Lillian Griffith Goodridge and Romaine Wendall Goodridge. She attended Derby Academy, graduating in 1948. In 1952, she graduated from Johnson Teachers' College in Johnson, where she recently attended her 60th reunion with her grandson and fellow alumnus. She taught grammar school at the Jonesville Academy for two years, where she lovingly taught students in grades one through eight. On Aug. 26, 1953, she married Bernard "Pat" Quinn. They were blessed to have nearly 60 years together. With her husband, Bernard, she ran Quinn's Store in Jonesville, from 1953 to 1985. Customers looked forward to her smiling face and friendly conversation each time they shopped. Janet had a passionate interest in the Boston Red Sox and realized her dream of touring Fenway Park in May 2010. She volunteered with RSVP for several years, reading with children at Richmond Elementary School. She was thrilled to once again be using her teaching skills. Janet loved traveling, enjoying many shopping trips and visits to Virginia with her daughters. She spent hours with her grandchildren playing games, building forts, reading, and lovingly spoiling them. Janet continues to watch over her husband, Bernard; children and their spouses, Patty and Jim Baumann, Cathy Quinn, Mike and Hilary Quinn, Carmel Quinn and Greg Unger, Linda Quinn and Ron Rocheleau, and Barb Quinn and Jim O'Brien. She blesses the lives of her grandchildren and their spouses/significant others, Zachary and Katie, Devin and Cortney, Timmel and Tim, Tucker and Alyssa, Matt and Ian, Sam and Sulei, Dani, and Jamie and Steve. Janet was also fortunate to have several step-grandchildren that she loved dearly, Katie, Sarah, Matt, AJ and Alex, Elizabeth and Aaron, Amanda and Shawn, Dan and Laura, and Cathleen. In the last two years, she was given the gift of two great-grandchildren, Hadley and Samson; along with step-great-grandchildren, Kira, Brent, Matt, Stephen, and Patrick. Janet will be missed by her twin sister and best friend, Janice; very special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Liz and Jim; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Others well-loved and considered as family include, The Begins, Cohn, Gilroy, Barnard, and Begins Keleman families, and Ann White, who was a special friend to Janet. Janet also had a very special "second family" during her teen years, Mabel and Ralph Perkins. The family is grateful to the compassionate and extremely skilled cardiac and palliative care nurses and nurse practitioners at Fletcher Allen Health Care, McClure 5. Fly home our angel, we will love you forever and ever. Your angel tree will continue to grow as will our love for you. A community celebration of Janet's life will take place at The Monitor Barn in Richmond on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Community Cares Camp, Inc., PO Box 503, Richmond, VT 05477, or online at www.ourcommunitycarescamp.org; or to Fletcher Allen Health Care Development Office, Nursing Fund McClure 5, 111 Colchester Ave., Mail Stop 4106 OH, Burlington, VT 05401.

Do so wish we could be there with you in Zen Wheeler's Old Barn, but the distance (from York, Pennsylvania) makes it impossible.

To this day, Mary, Tracy and I reflect upon those 23 years we lived in Jonesville with the Quinns, the Lavanways, the Begins, and the Bombardiers for neighbors as some of the happiest in our lives.

Pat and family, We too will miss Janet. We have known you since the store across the bridge. The memories we have will be cherished for a long time to come.
It was the two of you, that made me decide to live in Jonesville. I came into the store with Rod Wheelock, in 1973, and when I talked with Janet, and hearing some of the history about Jonesville, and Pat telling me about when his mom, was rescued from the roof of the store, during the 27' flood, was when I decided then I wanted to live here. Thank you for being a part of our lives. Rose, and I will keep all in our prayers.

The beauty of Janet will always live on in each one of us she touched and loved. I am blessed to know there is a piece of her in each one of my children, as her love and devotion to them will never be forgotten. I can only aspire to be as amazing as she was. Sending lots of love to Pat and the family, and I am grateful she has finally found peace.
