LOUIS PAUL SHEPARD - ST. ALBANS/ GEORGIA - Louis Paul Shepard, a lifelong resident of this area and devoted family man, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Born on Nov. 5, 1929, in St. Albans, he was the son of the late Clarence and Beatrice (Moore) Shepard. Louis was 84 years old. Louis was a 1947 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and then enlisted in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he came back to St. Albans and was employed by the former H.P. Hood, Co., retiring following 30 years of service. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Parish and a member of Green Mountain Post #1, American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Claire (Giroux) Shepard of Georgia; two sons, Steven Shepard and wife, Kathy, of Georgia, and Brian Shepard and wife, Kelly, of East Fairfield; daughter, Nancy Colburn and husband, Mike, of Burke, Va.; grandchildren, Lindsey Bourbeau and husband, Brian, Kaitlin Lumbra and husband, Steven, Samuel Shepard, Jack Colburn, and Claire Colburn; great-grandchildren, Myles and Charlotte Bourbeau, and a third great-grandchild due in September; and two brothers, Richard Shepard and wife, Marge, of Essex Junction, and Ronald Shepard and wife, Eleanor, of St. Albans Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant.
