ROBERT ARTHUR MARCOTTE - ESSEX - Robert Arthur Marcotte, 84, of Essex, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, after a brief illness. Born on Jan. 26, 1928, in Burlington, the son of the late Edmund and Laura (Bedard) Marcotte of Charlotte. After eighth grade, Bob worked on local farms for a couple of years before going into the US Air Force from 1946 to 1949. While in the Air Force, he received his high school diploma. He graduated from UVM with an electrical engineering degree in 1954, and went to work for IBM as an engineer. On Aug. 30, 1952, Bob married Charlotte Margaret Isham of Williston. We are grieved to hear of Bob's passing. He was always very kind and helpful to us since we moved into Pinewood 12 year ago. Always a man ready for conversation and hearty debate, we will remember his smile, wit, and honest charm. May you find peace and comfort at this time in the arms of God and his Son, Jesus.

Dear Marcotte family:

My sympathies to you in this time of sorrow.

I first met Bob in the early 1980's. I continued to have a business relationship with Bob through the late 1990's.

Bob encouraged me to participate in the NAHB, which I did under his sponsorship, and I was elected to the Board of Directors. He helped teach me the value of giving back to the industry.

I should have thanked him long before now, but I have always gratefully appreciated his support and encouragement.

Bob cast a tall shadow in the building and construction industry, and his passion for what he did had a positive impact on many people!

May God grant your your family peace in your grieving, and joy in your memories of this great man.

Aunt Charlotte and all the Marcotte family
I am very glad I got to see Uncle Bob in August at the family reunion/anniversery party. I always enjoyed talking to him and he always made a point of spending time chatting with everyone when we were together. He had a very full life and may he rest in peace. I know he was always a great "big brother" to his brothers and sisters. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. With Love.

Dear Charlotte and Family
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family in this time of loss and sadness.
Steve and I liked Bob from the moment we met him, shoveling snow in your driveway after a storm in 1986. We asked him if he knew anything about this neighborhood, as we were very frustrated in our home search, and needed to find a home fast. He got into our car and told us the history of Pinewood while touring us around the neighborhood. A few days later he called with 3 homes that would be coming onto the market in spring. We bought Sankowskis through him. Though the kids have grown and Steve passed away, Pinewood is still home. It is a community of support and friendships, created through Bob's vision and vigilance. I'll miss him driving around to keep an eye on things. But his legacy, including two-shovel snow shoveling, will live on.

Dear Charlotte and Family
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time of loss.
We always liked and respected Bob, since the day we met him, after a heavy snow in 1986. Steve and I drove into the neighborhood and saw Bob shoveling snow in your driveway. We were very frustrated in our home search (looking mostly in Waterbury where Steve was already working at a new job). We asked the gentleman shoveling if he knew anything about this development.Bob climbed into our car and gave us the history of Pinewood and a tour. Within a few days he called Steve with several houses that would be going on the market in spring. Steve like the Sankowski's best for our needs. Bob sold us the house, and we built our lives here. Pinewood is more than houses, it is a community of supportive caring neighbors.
We'll all miss Bob's driving though the neighborhood to keep an eye on things, but his legacy will live on.
PS. I learned the two-shovel snow shoveling method from Bob.Great idea! I think of him whenever I use it.

We were the 18th family to have a home in Pinewood Manor. It was the highlight of all the places we lived. The Pinewood pool was a favorite gathering place and we still remain friends and share memories with former neighbors.
Bob was a gentle man who took a young newly married couple under his wing and guided us into our first home. We share in your loss.
