ROBERT E. PILLSBURY

ROBERT E. PILLSBURY - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Robert Earl Pillsbury, 79, passed away early Saturday morning, July 13, 2013, surrounded by his children, in Pillsbury Manor in South Burlington. He was born on March 17, 1934, son of the late Earl and Kathryn Pillsbury. Robert married his best friend and lifetime love, Darla Kane Pillsbury, on March 17, 1955, at St. Josephs Church in Burlington. They were happily married for over 55 years. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 where he fought for his country overseas, before being discharged in 1954. He worked for New England Telecom (AT&T) and retired with thirty years of service in 1985. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge #916. He was also a member of the VFW post #782, the FOE #793, and American Legion Post #2. He is survived by his three sons, Daryl and his wife, Bridgette, of Brattleboro, Dana of Gilbertville, Mass., and Darrin and his wife, Kara, of South Burlington; his daughter, Danielle Pillsbury and her husband, Pete LeClair of Colchester; 10 grandchildren, Robert, Leslie, Amber, Ashley, Chelsy, Nick, Casey, Kendra, Taylor, and Alex; as well as 7 great-grandchildren. In Robert's final months he said, "I like it when you're done talking to someone and they walk away with a smile". He will be remembered for his dedication to family, his witty sense of humor, and his ability to make others smile. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Louisa Howard Chapel at Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington. There will be a reception immediately following for family and friends at the Elks Lodge 916 on North Avenue in Burlington.
