SARAH ETHEL (ARMSTRONG) BIGGER - BURLINGTON - Sarah Bigger died peacefully at home, sitting in her favorite chair looking out the window, on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at the age of 91. Sarah was born in Springfield, Mass. on Aug. 19, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Armstrong. She received her education in the Springfield school system. At the start of W.W.II, Sarah joined the U.S. Navy
and served as a WAV from 1943 to 1945. She married Joseph Bigger on July 15, 1946, and they had four children together. Sarah was a homemaker, a housewife and a mother. She liked spending time in her flower garden, sewing, and cooking. She made an amazing apple pie and her baked beans were the best. She loved going to the ocean every summer with her family, and enjoyed having a glass of wine with her dinner each evening. She is survived by her four children, son, Joseph Bigger and wife, Karen, of Niantic, Conn., daughter, Ann Bombard and husband, BJ, of Burlington, daughter, Leslie Scott and husband, David, of St. Paul, Minn., and son, Scott Bigger and wife, Donna, of Colchester; grandchildren, Kim, Jason, Craig Patrick, Courtney, Emily, Joseph, Samantha, and Nathan; plus two great-grandchildren, Keegan and Gabrielle. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Bigger; and sister, Anita Roberts. Sarah's family wants to give a special thanks to Irene Clark and Susan Lefebvre for their care and companionship during her last years. Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours and a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
