SHIRLEY ANN GIROUX

SHIRLEY ANN GIROUX - WILLISTON - Shirley Ann Giroux, 78, joined her husband, Jack, in Heaven on March 11, 2014. She was born on July 8, 1935, in Springfield, the daughter of Russell and Beulah (Thorpe) Raymond. Shirley graduated from Castleton State College, then worked as an elementary school teacher for many years. After her teaching career, her family had a dairy farm in Williston. Her hobbies included painting, quilting, rugmaking, needlework and gardening. She spent many joyful hours walking her dog, Annie, and enjoyed spending time with her neighbors. She is survived by her three children, sons, John Giroux and wife, Pam, of Hinesburg, and James Giroux and wife, Cori, of Richmond; daughter, Jill Knudson and husband, Brian, of Williston; seven grandchildren, Rob and Chris Giroux, Marissa, Brendon and Colby Giroux, and Shelby and Ethan Knudson; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Katie, Isabelle, and Colton Giroux; two sisters, Joan Carlyle and husband, Robert, and Sally Gabert; and brother and sisters-inlaw, Charlie and Rose Hansen, and Gene and Norma Giroux. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Clarence "Jack" Giroux; and brother, Russell Raymond. Graveside services will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Richmond in the spring. Arrangements are in care of the Gifford Funeral and Cremation Service, 22 Depot St., Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley's name may be made to the Vermont Cancer Center, Development Office, 111 Colchester Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401.
