SHIRLEY LUCILLE (FALCONER) PETERSON

SHIRLEY LUCILLE (FALCONER) PETERSON - WESTFORD - Shirley Lucille (Falconer) Peterson, 74, of Westford, passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 22, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on Dec. 25, 1938, in West Stewartstown, N.H., though she always considered herself a native Vermonter. She was the daughter of the late Wm. Bruce and Lucille Isabelle (Marsh) Falconer, and grew up in Canaan. She married J. Patrick Peterson of Norton in 1962. She graduated from Lyndon Teacher's College and taught grade school for a few years before she and Pat moved with their children from Norton to Westford. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother as her children grew. Shirley enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing and many other crafts. Family was very important to Shirley. She passed along a love of puzzles to her daughters and granddaughters. She and Pat shared a love of country music; Johnny Cash was a favorite of theirs. Shirley loved history, and loved anything related to Vermont. This was especially true of maple syrup, and thankfully Pat's sugaring "hobby" kept them well supplied over the last several years. She and Pat were blessed to have so many family and friends gather at their home last summer to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Shirley will be greatly missed by her family. She leaves her loving husband, Pat; children and their spouses, Pauline Morrill, Pam and Don Deyette, and James and MaryBeth Peterson; grandchildren, Kim, Joe, Doug, and Ashley Morrill; Patrick, Sarah, and Dustin Deyette; and Ben and Josh Peterson. She also leaves her brothers and sister, John Falconer and wife, Lindy, Robert Falconer, and Claire Jeffers. She was predeceased by her parents; and stepmother, Lena Falconer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2013, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cambridge, with Fr. Rick Danielson, as celebrant. Burial will be later in the spring in the family lot at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Norton. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday afternoon, March 24, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton. Online condolences may be made at www.minorfh.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National MS Society, 706 Haddonfield Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002; or the VNA Home Care Program, in care of the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446-9903.
