STANLEY G. DENNEY - VERGENNES - Stanley G. Denney, 88, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, in Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury. Stan was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Stamford, Conn., the son of Charles and Constance (Wallon) Denney. Stan was married to Aline Mayer, who predeceased him in August 2005. He served his country during W.W.II in the U.S. Navy on the sub Chaser SC1323 as a sonar man in the Pacific and was at the invasion of Okinawa. He also served on the aircraft carrier USS Bataan CVL-29 during the Korean Conflict. Stan is survived by two sons, Alan of Sarasota, Fla., and Mike and wife, Janet, of Moriah, N.Y.; brother, Raymond and wife, Mildred, of Leicester; and sister, Gerri of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Crocket in 2013. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Vergennes in the spring. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to organization of your choice.
