THEODORE MANAZIR - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Theodore Manazir, 78, a longtime resident of South Burlington, died peacefully in Vermont Respite House in Williston, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with loving family at his side, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. Theodore was born in Boston in 1934, the son of Tawfik and Flora (Sabino) Manazir. He was a graduate of Boston Latin School, Class of 1952, Harvard University
, Class of 1956 (AB-Biology), and the University of Vermont, Class of 1973 (Masters in Education). On June 27, 1959, Theodore was married in Whitinsville, Mass., to Ann Janet (McKee) Manazir, who was the love of his life. Ted was very proud of his Lebanese/Syrian heritage and enjoyed the delicious foods his father used to prepare. He was also very proud of his family and supported his wife and children in all of their endeavors. Ted retired after 42 years as a chemist/ toxicologist with the Vermont State Department of Health. He had been a member of the North Avenue Alliance Church in Burlington since 1961 and served on the Elder Board, Governing Board, Board of Deacons and was a member of the church choir. He also served for the South Burlington School Board as clerk and chairman from 1981 to 2010; and also was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed photography, reading, sports, "Go Red Sox!", but mostly spending time with his family. Ted loved his Lord and Savior with all his heart and that love for Christ was evident as he lovingly took care of his wife, Ann for many years. Ted is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann; their four children, Heather M. Devenbeck and her husband, Floyd, of Temple Terrace, Fla., Kristin A. Manazir of South Burlington, Theodore R. Manazir and his wife, Christina, of South Burlington, and Gregg A. Manazir and his wife, Heather, of Fleming Island, Fla.; grandchildren, Lindsay, Melissa, Andrew, and Natalie Devenbeck, and Theodore C. and Arianna Manazir; his brother, Charles H. Manazir and his wife, Laura Ann, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; nephews, Michael C. Manazir, his wife, Kelly, and their children, and Christopher M. Manazir, his wife, Teri, and their children; his uncle, Albert Sabino and his wife, Sally; his aunt, Josie Howdy; his cousin, John Howard; and many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service and celebration of Ted's life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at 4 p.m. at North Avenue Alliance Church in Burlington.
