THERESA "TERRY" ALLIS

THERESA "TERRY" ALLIS - BURLINGTON - Theresa (Rainville) Allis, 91, passed peacefully from this world on April 10, 2012. Terry was born on Dec. 7, 1920, to Marie-Anna and Philias Rainville. She lived at the lake and she died at the lake, at the home she shared with her husband and best friend, Clifford Allis. Terry loved to sit on her swing and look out at the water. She was an amazing card player and loved to share her winnings. In her early adult years, Terry was an enthusiastic skier and fisherman. Later in life she developed a love of painting, a self-taught artist, she shared her beautiful paintings with many. She and Cliff were avid campers, traveling throughout the United States and Canada, as well as spending many winters in Florida. Terry is survived by her husband, Clifford, with whom she celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this year; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Charlene Allis; grandson, Christian Allis; granddaughter and husband, Kelly and Mike Fitzpatrick; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Laurette Allis; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ron Czarny; brother and sister-in-law, Buddy (Roger) and Chucky (Charlene) Rainville; sisters-in-law, Doris Rainville, Betty Rainville, and Jean Rainville; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Paul, Gabe, Armand, Hank, Henry, Maxie, Flo, Art, Roger, Perry, Paul, and Helen. Terry's family wishes to thank her nurse, Melanie Pomerantz and all the staff at VNA Hospice & Palliative Care for their help and compassion these past months. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 13, 2012, at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Burlington. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery in Middlebury. Visiting hours will be today from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, 261 Shelburne Road in Burlington. Online condolences may be sent to www.readyfuneral.com.
