WALTER IRA ATKINS SR. - LINCOLN - Walter I. Atkins Sr., 81, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013. He was born on Sept. 18, 1932, in Waltham, the son of Chase and Priscilla (Snyden) Atkins. Walter retired from Pizzagalli Construction after many years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #19, and the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Martha (Prouty) Atkins of Lincoln; son, Walter I. Atkins Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, along with their two sons, Chase and Caleb, of Lincoln; and daughter, Julie Atkins of Winooski. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Ann, Alex, Tim, and the entire staff at Addison County Home Health and Hospice for all their assistance and care during this difficult time. There will be a celebration of Walter's life held at the Bristol American Legion Post #19 on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Addison County Home Health and Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.
