My deepest sympathy to Dave's family....we looked forward to his smile each yr. while apple picking, as well as to the special things he often wanted us to try. One year he took us on a mini-tour in a different orchard so we could try several different kinds of apples. There were also many years that he generously donated to the fall Cursillos. Now I'll bet God has him showing his expertise in Heaven's orchards! But Heaven's gain is surely Monkton's loss!

Fall will never be the same. I always looked forward to my visits to the orchard, not only for the great apples and cider, but to see Dave. He would always give me the tour of the orchard and introduce me to all the new varieties of apples and pears he'd grafted. It was so gratifying to see someone so proud of his property, his employees and his wonderful products. We will all miss him. My best to the family.

My sister called this morning to tell me about Dave's passing. I can say Dave will be remembered as a character in my life line especially in Williston school days. David's father in 1960 got David a ham radio. He knew the Morse Code. We talked across the Williston fields and even went cross country skiing one. David you will have a chapter in my book about Vermont in the fifties. Lets hope it sells, better I complete it.
David's passion was apples and I find it a little strange his novice radio call sign was KN1OCA.
That is " Old Grab Apple"
Safe journeys David.

So sorry to hear this. I didn't meet him until recently, when he generously offered to come over to our house in Monkton. We have a pear tree that was in rough shape and he gave us some great advice. Spent the sunny evening talking with him, listening to the birds and learning a wealth of knowledge about fruit trees in the hours he was there. He was an incredible member of our community, my heart goes out to your family.

My husband Dan absolutely loves the Macintosh apples from his orchard. My sincere condolences to to Genny, Kathy and the whole family. He will be sorely missed.
