Alfred Charles Key, Sr, "Al", age 83, of Milton, DE passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Jan. 23, 2016. He was born Jan. 17, 1933 in Teaneck, NJ to Alfred C. Key, Esq. & Clara (Ritter) Key.
Al served with honor in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1961. He married Mary Elizabeth Gallinoto on 12/13/52. Working in the aviation industry from 1961 to 1965 in LI, NY he then moved to Winooski & worked at IBM from 1965 until he retired in 1987. He worshipped & ushered at St. Francis Xavier Church, Winooski until moving to Milton, DE. He loved to travel by RV enjoying sailing, boating, fishing, & woodworking. He was a co-founder of "The Grumpy Old Men's computer club." Al was a friend to many, sharing his time & passions.
Al wouldn't just shake your hand but he'd draw you in for a hug. His joy was to help others, always there when there was a need. He said: "The most important thing in this life are the people you love; Your family, your friends, & those that surround you. Being involved in people's lives is the best thing you can do." His friends in VT & DE know they were loved. Loving his family fiercely, he valued them above all else.
Al is predeceased by his daughter Marie, brother John, & sister Madeline. Survived by his beloved wife Mary, his sisters Clara & Susan, brothers Bob & Tom. Surviving Al, are his children: Grace & Bob, Bernie & Jim, Al & Raylene, Cathy & Dave, & his grandchildren: Bethany & Dan, Sarah, Abby & Chris, Katie, Megan, Alfred, Gregory, with his great-grandchildren: Marshall, Josh, Daniel, Annie & Parker.
A Memorial Mass held to Celebrate His Life is on Friday, Feb. 19th at 2:00pm at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski, Vt.

Unfortunately it had been many years since I saw Aunt Mary and Uncle Al (my godparents) I always think of his infectious laugh and how I adored him. He always was extremely kind and to me the smartest man I knew. He will be missed
