ARTHUR E. LOONEY - BURLINGTON - Arthur E. Looney, of Burlington, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 19, 2013, with his family at his side. He was 82 years old. He was the proud owner and president of Looney Furniture Company for 42 years. A lifelong resident of Burlington, Mr. Looney was a graduate of Mount Assumption Institute, Plattsburgh, N.Y., and attended Saint Michael's College. He served two years in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer USS Gatling. His love of the water and boating continued to be shared with his three children at the the family camp on the shores of Lake Champlain. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Lemnah Looney; three children, John M. Looney and partner, Linda Tetreault, Brian E. Looney, and Jane M. Looney and partner, Raymond Evans; two granddaughters, Allison M. Looney and Marisa E. Looney; sisters, Dorothy Casey and Marion Croto; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in the care of the Cremation Society of Chittenden County, a division of the Ready family, Burlington.
