CARL E. ANDERSON SOUTH BURLINGTON - Carl E. Anderson, 94, died June 20, 2011, after a long struggle for a resting place of his spirit and soul. He was born in Kane, Pa., the son of Carl and Ellen (Westerberg) Anderson. Carl spent his early years in Kane, Pa. and worked in a store where he became manager and was transferred to St. Johnsbury where he met his wife, Dorothy Cloutier. They were married in 1944 and moved to South Burlington and opened the Log Cabin Gift Shop in South Burlington. Carl later went to General Electric Co. and retired after 26 years. Carl and Dorothy spent the next ten years traveling and also enjoyed their summer place in East Fairfield. Carl enjoyed traveling, camping, reading and, most of all, gardening. He was a life member of the B.P.O.E. 916. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mabel Larson and Helen Stark. Carl is survived by his caring wife of 66 years, Dorothy; a daughter, Deborah Couture and her husband, Mark; a granddaughter, Nicole Couture; a grandson, Matthew Couture and his fiancee, Ashley Rodenas; and four greatgranddaughters and many devoted nieces and nephews. His family is grateful for the support and care provided by Birchwood Terrace Healthcare. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.
