DAVID A. MARTELL - SWANTON - David A. Martell, 82, a longtime resident of Hinesburg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Fletcher Allen Health Care, with his family at his side. He was born at home in Swanton on Nov. 19, 1930, son of the late Dollard and Yvonne (Hope) Martell. On June 4, 1949, David married Alice Smith, who preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 2009. David was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran during the Korean War. He was employed for many years at the Hinesburg Cheese Plant. David was known as the "Mayor" at the Falcon Manor Adult Day Program in Williston. Survivors include his children, David Martell and wife, Lynn, of St. Albans, Dollard Martell of Vidor, Texas, Etta Marie Hughes and husband, Leroy, of Fairfield, Daniel Martell of Swanton, Shawn Martell of Colchester, Betty "Boop" Button and fiancée , Slim Botala, of Hinesburg, Dwayne Martell and wife, Jean, of St. Albans, Darren Martell and wife, Shirley, of Colchester, and Dwight Martell and wife, Mary, of St. Albans; sister, Sister Yvonne Martell, DHS; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Amy Bouchard and Earl McManis. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Holy Angels Church on Lake Street, St. Albans.
