He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, skiing, gardening, and traveling. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who adored him. Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, Rose, his wife of 58 years; his children, Emmett Jr. and Judy O'Connell of Stowe, Vt., Mary and Ken Stella of Vershire, Vt., Dr. Patrick and Susie O'Connell of Virginia Beach, Va., and Sarah and David Kalil of Stow, Mass.; and his 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Sean, and EJ O'Connell, Emily and Joe Stella, Kathryn, William, and Patrick O'Connell, and Sean and Maura Kalil. He is also survived by his sister Teresa Murphy of Long Beach, Calif.; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
