FRANCIS PATRICK Obituary
FRANCIS PATRICK - ESSEX JUNCTION - A celebration of life will be held June 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the North Avenue Alliance Church, 903 North Ave., Burlington, for Francis Louise Patrick, who died peacefully at home in her easy chair on Saturday, May 3, 2014, one day after her 89th birthday. Fran was born on May 2, 1925, in Providence, R.I., to Florence and Wayland Burgess. The family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. This is where Fran grew up with her sister, Doty, and brothers, Roger and Bill (Wayland Jr). Fran received her nursing degree from Christ Hospital of Cincinnati in 1948. Fran moved to Cape Cod where she met Robert Patrick of Hague, N.Y., they married in 1949. Robert's career required them to move often throughout New England. In the late '60s Fran, Robert, and their three sons moved to Essex Junction. Fran worked at the Green Mountain Nursing Home briefly in the early '70s. She then became a school nurse in the Essex Junction school system, working in a number of elementary schools including Hiawatha and Summit Street. She loved her job and was well liked by faculty and students wherever she was placed. She retired in 1985 and began an active retirement. Upon retirement, Fran started her own crafting business "Pom-Pom Classics," making a variety of dolls which she sold in craft shows in Vermont. She also was active on ebay, as she enjoyed going to antique shows and yard sales looking for collectibles to resell online. She was an avid reader, she liked puzzles and word games. Fran mostly loved being with family and friends. Fran is survived by her brother, Bill (Wayland) Burgess and friend, Terry, of Williston; sons, Thomas and Cheryl of Montreal, PQ Quebec, Daniel and Shirley of Westford, and Scott of Burlington; and very special granddaughter, Katie-Francis, also of Montreal. In addition she leaves her special friends, Barb Blanchette, Claire and Alan Wilcott, Alice Williams, and Ron Belair. The family would like to thank all her friends and neighbors for their friendship, love and help.
