HENRY "HANK" BASSETT - SPRINGFIELD - Henry "Hank" Bassett, 86, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 24, 2013, at his home. Henry was born in Waterville on July 29, 1926, the son of Edson and Marie (Bailey) Bassett. He graduated from Cambridge High School in Jeffersonville, and served in the United States Army during W.W.II. In 1947, he married Lorraine Dufresne. They moved to Springfield in 1951. Henry worked at Fellows Corp., until going to work for S.R. Young in 1957. He retired in 1995. Henry was a former member of the Flying Eagles Coin Club, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 771, and the Springfield Lodge of Elks. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughters, Patty and her husband, Bill O'Neill, Peggy and her husband, Dennis Roux, and Nan Bassett and her longtime companion, Leane Gill; son, William and his wife, Laurie; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Edson Jr.; and an infant daughter, Mary Lou. At his request, he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Springfield. The Rev. James Zaccaro will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield. Contributions may be made to the V.N.A. and Hospice of VT & NH, P.O. Box 976, White River Jct.,VT 05001.
