KNUD "KEN" JORGEN HANSEN - NORTH HAVERHILL, N.H. - Knud "Ken" Jorgen Hansen, 84, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013, peacefully after many years with Alzheimer's, in North Haverhill, N.H. Ken was the beloved husband of the late Leah H. Hansen, who passed away on Dec. 22, 2012. Knud was born on Oct. 8, 1928, to the late Inger (Flensted) Hansen and Thorvald J. Hansen, in Douglas, NB, Canada. Ken traveled cross-country with the Danish Gymnastics Team in the late 1940's, and enjoyed telling his family stories of this amazing trip. Ken was very proud of his Danish heritage and taught his family many Danish traditions, and was a member of the Danish Brotherhood of Connecticut. Ken was a dedicated dairy farmer all his life, and worked from 1956 to 1974 for both E. Welles Eddy and Roger Eddy on the Eddy Farm, in Newington, Conn., and from 1974 to 1991 for Forrest Davis, DVM, on the Maplewood Farm in Granby, Conn. He was passionate about farming, whether it be working with the animals, the field work, or the chores. Ken and Leah had retired to Piermont, N.H., where they lived for the next 16 years. Ken was known as a caring, gentle man and a friend to all who knew him. Ken will be sadly missed by his children, Brenda Z. Taylor (Charlie) of Enfield, Conn., Eric K.T. Hansen (Melanie) of Sutton, Vt., and Kren Hansen (John) of Buels Gore, Vt. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Janna, Zetta, Jorgen (Melissa), Inger (Andru), Joshua, Harmony and Adeline; and eight great-grandchildren, Logan, Dallas, Drew, Simon, Peyton, Kingsley, Caiden and Madison. Ken is survived by his brother, Robert Hansen (Phyllis) of Florida; two sisters, Alice Ersboll of South Carolina, and Elizabeth McCormick (John) of Ohio; and sister-in-law, Donna Krupp of Swanton, Vt. A private family memorial service will be held for both Ken and Leah on May 5, 2013, at the grave site in Newport Center. The Hale Funeral Home in Bradford is handling all of the arrangements.
