LAWRENCE D. COMPAGNON - COLCHESTER - Lawrence D. Compagnon, 67, died peacefully at home on Nov. 1, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sept. 19, 1946, in Burlington, the son of the late Lawrence Compagnon and Alison (Merchant) Compagnon. Larry graduated from Rice Memorial High School in 1965. He was married on Aug. 13, 1966, to Sandra (Whalen) Compagnon. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the Navy on the aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard. Larry retired as a master plumber from Thomas Mechanical in 2009. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and camping. He loved going to his children and grandchildren's sporting events, cooking and family BBQ's. He especially enjoyed sleepovers and "movie night" with his grandchildren. Larry was also an avid New York Giants fan, and a practical joker. Larry is survived by his wife, Sandra (Whalen) Compagnon, of 47 years; sons, Lawrence "Chip" of Colchester, and Jason and wife, Margo, of Hinesburg; daughters, Catherine (Compagnon) McClellan and husband, Artie, of Milton, and Jennifer (Compagnon) Thibault and husband, Eric, of Milton; and grandchildren, Michael and Christopher McClellan, and Alexis and Leslie Thibault. He also leaves behind two sisters, Barbara (Compagnon) LeBlanc and husband, Richard, of Pottstown, Pa., and Mary Compagnon; and brother, Paul Compagnon and wife, Rose, of Williston. A special thanks to the teams in the Oncology/ Radiation Departments at Fletcher Allen Health Care and Hospice of the Visiting Nurse Association. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at his parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church in Colchester, on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at Tierney Hall. There will be no visiting hours per Lawrence's wishes. Arrangements are in the care of the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington.
