MARJORIE M. CLARK FLORAL CITY, Fla./BURLINGTON - Marjorie was born June 3, 1920 in Montpelier, Vt., the only child of Thomas and Aileen (Kerin) Foley. She spent her childhood in Montpelier, where she attended public schools and graduated from Saint Michaels High School in 1938. Marjorie met her husband to be, John B. Clark during a high school dance. They courted for years, after John returned from his World War II service in the Merchant Marines they married. On Dec. 27, 2008 they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Of the things that mattered most to Midge was her family. She and John had three children Aileen (Clark) Lockett and Bill of San Antonio, TX, Jay Clark and Wendie of Fairfax, Vt. and Tim Clark and Nancy Langan of Jericho, Vt. When Tim, the youngest, entered grade school she began her employment as a school secretary with CP Smith Elementary. During her 20 plus years of '"running the school" Midge found a dear friend in Nancy Effron. Dora Cambell and Annmarie Mable will also be known as two of her closest friends. Midge was a member of St. Mark's Parish where she was a Lady of the St. Mark's Auxiliary. She assisted in serving meals at the Salvation Army and organizing the Annual St. Mark's Lawn Party. For almost thirty years, John and Midge were able to avoid Vermont winters in their Florida home in Floral City. She and John traveled back and forth at times with dogs Cassius and then Doog. Midge was "quick" in many ways. Whether it was playing cards with her grandchildren where she was the undisputed champion of Double Solitaire or Canasta or always there with some freshly popped pop corn. Midge has 7 grandchildren, Todd Clark and Sue Demasi of Colchester, Vt., Amie (Clark) Scanlon and Kyle of Essex Town, Vt., Sara (Clark) Benoure and Brad of Colchester, Laura (Lockett) Thetford and Todd of New Braunfells, TX, Leslie Lockett of Austin, TX, Olivia Kazak of South Burlington, Vt., and Victoria Kazak of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor Clark, Addison, Joshua, and Kelsie Scanlon, Ellie and Isabel Benoure, Chase and Colton Thetford, and Isaiah and Tabious DuBose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. in St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Burlington. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Duxbury, VT in the spring.
