Over the years, Marjorie worked at the UVM Alumni Office, Vermont ETV, Champlain Valley Office on Aging, and was co-owner of a Vermont-based tour business that conducted tours locally, nationally and worldwide. Marjorie loved attending and participating in cultural events of all sorts and loved culinary adventures. She was an excellent and daring cook and especially enjoyed many memorable meals with a group of her close friends in their long- standing, tongue-in-cheek "Gourmet Club." Marjorie is survived by her two sons, Jim Sylvester and Steve Sylvester, and their wives; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Louise Noyes; brother, Howard Noyes; and her late husband of 36 years, Bert McBride of South Hero. Her first husband, Julian H. Sylvester, predeceased her in 1973. There will be a memorial service at the South Hero Congregational Church on South Street at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012. In the coming spring, Marjorie will be interred at the High Street Cemetery in Hampton, N.H., at the Noyes Family Plot. Arrangements are with the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 37 Elmwood Ave., Burlington, VT 05401.
