PAM CASTELLI - ESSEX JUNCTION - Pam Castelli, 45, of Essex Junction, joined the angels on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, surrounded by the love of her friends and family, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Pam was born on Jan. 8, 1968, in Elgin, Ill., to Clark and Karen Seeman. Pam's childhood was spent in Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa. Pam graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., and then moved to New York, finally settling in Vermont. Pam will be remembered for the many gifts she shared with the world, including her grace and motivation to do everything she did well. Pam's creative spirit and ability to connect with people in a genuine and meaningful way made her very successful whether she was working as a nanny in New York City or in retail, catering, restaurant businesses or at the Lund Family Center. She received some cards from former clients who spoke about how much she made a difference in their lives and how through her support they were able to turn their lives around because they felt less alone. Those lucky enough to have worked with her benefitted from her extraordinary kindness, creativity, humor, motivation and compassion that she carried with her always. Pam's craft projects and gardening were vivid demonstrations of her as an artist. The role that Pam loved best was being a mother to her son, Cameron. Like all that she did, Pam put every effort in being the best mother. Cameron was the love of her life and she spent their time together creating a lifetime of memories and a foundation of strength and love for him to carry forward. Pam brought joy to her many friends and family and surrounded them in the beauty that radiates from her spirit. While the loss of Pam will be felt deeply by many, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all that walked the journey of her life with her and are forever changed because of it. It is a testament to that spirit that high school and college friends flew in from all across the United States to tell her how much she has meant to them and taught them about friendship. Pam is survived by her young son, Cameron of Essex Junction and his father, Michael; her parents, Clark and Karen Seeman; her grandmother, Joyce Hager; her brother and sister-in-law, Brian Seeman and Jackie Vlcek and their sons, Hudson and Quinlan, all of Grand Junction, Colo.; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Ruth Seeman; Clark Hager; and her aunt, Gayle Day. Pam is also survived by the many close friends that she had including, the Sneden family of New York City, Maria, Dennis, Kern, Michael and his wife, Katie, and Taylor, who will forever think of her as a daughter and sister; Kathy Richards of Colchester; and Sandra, Jeffrey and Hunter Alves of New York City who helped care for Pam on her final journey. She will forever be in the hearts of Greg Ackel and his family who made her part of their family for the last four years. Pam's friends and family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Vermont Respite House and all of the many people who helped care for Pam in her final weeks. She was their most popular resident and they too realized what an amazing woman Pam was through her friends, but most importantly through the grace, kindness and dignity she showed during her stay with them. Many of the staff would comment on how wonderful it would be to come into her room and even when asleep, she would have a smile on her face. A celebration of life for Pam will be held on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at 5 p.m. at the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service, Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Dr., Essex Junction. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cameron Castelli's education fund, c/o Clark Seeman, 927 North Fifth St., Grand Junction, CO 81501.
