Philip DeLaricheliere Obituary

Philip R. DeLaricheliere II

Age: 76 • South Burlington

R. Philip DeLaricheliere, 76, of Butler Drive in South Burlington passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 11, 2017 while doing something he enjoyed, visiting estate auctions searching for decoys.

Phil was born on January 5, 1941 in Burlington, VT. He was the oldest son of Rene P. DeLaricheliere and Helene Curtis McIsaac. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1958. Phil was also a graduate of Champlain College in 1961. On August 18, 1962 Phil was married in St. Mark's Church in Burlington, VT to Linda Lee Longe. Phil began his successful 37-year career with the Phone Company in 1956 as an office boy moving on to coin collector and eventually becoming a manager of Rates and Tariffs before his retirement in 1992. He then went on to work for the Visiting Nurses Association for another seven years as Director of Human Resources. While enjoying his retirement he still worked part-time for Bond Auto.

Phil loved the outdoors. He could be found fishing and waterfowl hunting with his friends and family. He had a passion for collecting and acquiring antique hunting decoys at estate sales and auctions. He was a long-time usher at the Flynn and St. Michaels playhouse. Additionally, he was a long time and proud member of the Elks club and St. John's club. Phil inspired a love of card games especially Pinochle in everyone he met. He also loved to read and was frequently sending books he had read to his children and grandchildren so they could enjoy them, too.

Phil was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He was lovingly referred to as Grandpa. He would never miss a chance to attend an event of any kind. He made being a grandfather his mission in life. Phil was a man of faith. He was a calm, patient, funny and loving grandfather always present. He seized every opportunity to celebrate his family's achievements.

Phil is survived by his wife Linda Lee Longe DeLaricheliere and their three children and their families. Oldest daughter, Phyllis Ann DeLaricheliere and her family; son Ryan Philip DeLaricheliere and his fiancée Jillian Rosa, daughter Alexandra Grace Lancey and husband Marshall Lancey. Their son, Rene Philip Delaricheliere III and his wife Rebecca Vock DeLaricheliere and his family; son Andrew Philip DeLaricheliere, daughters Lauren Olivia DeLaricheliere and Jennifer Renee DeLaricheliere. Their youngest daughter, Lynne Rose DeLaricheliere LaBonte and her husband Leo LaBonte and their family; sons Nicholas Patrick LaBonte and Christopher Paul LaBonte.

Phil was predeceased by his father Rene P Delaricheliere and Helene McIsaac. Phil was also survived by his sister and brother; Renee DeLaricheliere Vincent and her husband Edmund Vincent and their daughter Kelly Vincent Noel and her husband Dan Noel with their two daughters, Molly and Erin as well as his brother, Larry McIsaac with his son Michael McIsaac.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Ready Funeral Home Cremation Services South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road Burlington, VT from 4:00-7:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial and celebration of Phil's life will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St John Vianney Church and reception will take place in the parish Hall located at 160 Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, VT. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the American Alzheimer's Association in honor of Phil's mother, Helene McIsaac. Phil will forever be remembered for the love he gave to his family and for the love he received from everyone he interacted with.

Linda, Phyllis, Rene, Lynn and family - we are very sad to hear of Phil's passing. Although we had lost contact for a time, we have fond memories from the past; being next door neighbors and joining the Elks together. We shared many memorable times together prior to your move to Burlington. Phil's surprise 75th birthday party that you arranged for him turned out to be a fitting and timely tribute to him and one that we know he enjoyed. I will miss his presence and the humor he brought to our quarterly luncheons and golf get togethers. He will be sadly missed - our thoughts and prayers are with you.
