RAMONA C. STONE - BAKERSFIELD - Ramona C. Stone, age 81, passed away Monday evening, July 30, 2012, in the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans. She was born Feb. 16, 1931, in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Oscar and Hilda (Arel) Lazure. Ramona was a loving mother and grandmother, who devoted her life to raising her family. She was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in East Fairfield, where she was also a former member of the church choir. She enjoyed crocheting, singing, playing BINGO, tap dancing in her younger years, puzzles, reading and traveling. She loved to cook, especially for family or community events. In her later years, she volunteered her time to the Foster Grandparent Program in St. Albans. She is survived by her children, Harold Stone and his wife, Sue (Dufresne) of Bakersfield, Russell Stone of Bakersfield, Cynthia Gokey of Bakersfield, Roger Stone and his wife, Gloria (Gokey) of Enosburg Falls, Ivan Stone and his wife, Lisa (Sonski) of Bakersfield, Pamela Mudgett and her husband, Michael of Bakersfield, and Hazen Stone of Bakersfield; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Antoinette "Toni" Kennison of Enosburg Falls; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ramona was predeceased by her husband, Calvin Wheeler Stone on July 2, 1994. Ramona and Calvin were married Feb. 16, 1946. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, David Gokey Sr.; her daughterin-law, Mary (Tinker) Stone; and her sister, Cecilia Lussier. Ramona's family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Franklin County Rehab Center for the wonderful care provided to her during her illness. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony/St. Georges Catholic Church, 9491 Route 36, East Fairfield, with Rev. William Giroux celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
