RAYBURN V. LAVIGNE - WILLISTON - Rayburn V. Lavigne, 67, of Williston, died peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2013, with loving family by his side. Ray was born in Burlington on Oct. 1, 1945, the son of Rayburn F. Lavigne and Nancy (Vaughan) Lavigne. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1963, received his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Vermont in 1967, and his Masters Degree from the University of Vermont in 1971. He was married at the First United Methodist Church in Burlington on Aug. 17, 1968, to Violet "Pinky" (Demar) Lavigne. Ray had a long and dedicated career at the University of Vermont for more than 35 years. He also served on the District 4 Act 250 Board, and was a member on the Board of Directors with ECHO and G.B.I.C. He proudly served his country for the Vermont Army National Guard. Ray was an avid hunter and fisher who loved spending time at the Lavigne's Lodge in South Lincoln. The family also had a camp in Malletts Bay where he enjoyed boating, fishing and family get-togethers. He loved to travel with his wife, family and friends and enjoyed many wonderful vacations to Aruba, Las Vegas, Montreal, New Orleans, and Florida. Ray is survived by his wife of 46 years, Violet "Pinky" Lavigne; three children, Kelly Lavigne, Janna Fournier and her husband, Roland, and R.J. Lavigne and his wife, Christina; his parents, Rayburn and Nancy Lavigne; his brother, Gary Lavigne and his wife, Mary B.; the Roberts Family; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Vicki; and his sister, Vicki Jean. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St., in Winooski. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Ira Allen Chapel. Parking and shuttle services will be provided from the UVM Gutterson Parking Garage. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Rd., Colchester, VT 05446.
