ROBERT G. DEMAG Obituary
ROBERT G. DEMAG - COLCHESTER - Robert G. Demag, 82, passed away Feb. 28, 2014, in the Vermont Respite House surrounded by his beloved family. He was born Feb. 11, 1932, to John and Martha "Mattie" (Poirier) Demag. He was a member of the Vermont Army National Guard, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 42 years, having joined when he was only 17. He married the love of his life, Barbara A. George, on Aug. 20, 1955. He loved spending time with his family and friends at their camp in Starksboro. Robert loved hunting, collecting antiques, and building and fixing things. Robert is survived by his son, Bruce Demag of Colchester; daughter, Cathy Thornton and husband, Shane, of Bedford, N.H.; daughter, Linda Walker of Jericho; son, Ron Demag and wife, Patty, of Underhill; grandsons, Ethan George of Bedford, N.H., Christopher Walker of Jericho, and Joshua Walker of Jericho; sister, Flora "Girley" Bovat of Milton; brother, Frederick "Babe" and wife, Carol, Demag of East Montpelier; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Anna. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Barbara A George, in 2009; and brothers, John, Raymond, Donald, Seth, and Walter Demag. The family of Robert would like to extend many thanks to the wonderful staff at the Green Mountain Nursing Home who made him feel like family. A special thank you to David Auclair who could always make him smile. Robert enjoyed visits from patients and their families, whom the family has come to know and love. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5330 St. George Road, Williston. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.lavignefuneralhome.com.
