THERESA M. (PROVOST) SHEEHAN - BURLINGTON - Theresa M. (Provost) Sheehan, 86, a longtime resident of Burlington, died peacefully with loving family by her side in Starr Farm Nursing Center in Burlington on Monday, March 3, 2014. Theresa was born in Winooski on Nov. 17, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Vincent) Provost. She graduated from Winooski High School in 1945. Theresa was married in Burlington on Feb. 12, 1955, to Edward Earl Sheehan, who predeceased her on Nov. 28, 2010. Theresa was a loving and caring homemaker for many years, and retired after 15 years with the Social Security Administration. Theresa was a woman of deep faith. She was always giving and willing to help others, putting everyone else ahead of herself. She loved her flowers and gardening and enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but mostly spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Theresa is survived by her children, Carolyn Sheehan, Patrick Sheehan and his wife, Susan, Brian Sheehan, and Anne Fisher and her husband, Steve; grandchildren, Jessica Duncan, Kelly Sheehan and her fiance, Alex, Jeffrey Sheehan, Christina (Sheehan) Doner and her husband, Scott, Jason Sheehan, and Eryn Sheehan; great-granddaughter, Tanis; brother, Louis Provost and his wife, Marlene; sisters, Rita Gilbert, and Lena Lynch and her husband, Tom; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Timothy Sheehan; and sisters, Jeanne Martin, Gertrude Shorey, and infant sister, Claire Provost. Theresa's family wish to offer their sincere gratitude to the Starr Farm Nursing Center staff for their love, kindness, and the thoughtful care they gave to Theresa and her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church on North Avenue in Burlington. Interment will follow at New Mount Calvary Cemetery in Burlington. There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are with the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski.
