My belated sympathy to the Warren Witherell family for their loss. And for the loss of one of the greatest world water skiers of all times. I 1st
met Warren during a national water ski tournament in the late 1950s. At that time he skied on a Northland concave that he designed himself, and, also the same design that Billy Spencer used to become unbeatable, such as the great Warren. As my friend, he offered me tournament advice that helped me later in my tournament career. I will dearly miss him.

Warren was truly a multi-dimensional guy. When I was a 16-year-old budding photographer, he took particular interest in my work, even though it had nothing to do with sports. He was a talented writer in addition to a notable athlete & coach—the first real renaissance man I ever knew.

Warren was a fantastic ski coach and much looked up to mentor in my youthful years in Lake Placid. I'll always be grateful for his leadership and his counsel. He will always have a special place in my memories.

I first met Warren when I attended Northwood School - best teacher I ever had. When I heard of his passing, and spread the word to other Northwood friends, I only had to say "Warren passed away". They knew right away who I was talking about. No last name needed, and that, in itself, is a pretty good tribute. My life is richer for having met him.

Lots of great memories of Warren competing in water skiing at Lex Carroll's pond in Oakham, MA and the many other sites throughout New England... especially cool when he could arrive in his Lake amphibian.
My sincere condolences to Holly and Heidi on the loss of your father. He had a very positive impact on so many people and he will be remembered well by them all.

While I only knew Warren for a very short time he left a lasting impression on my family. He was my father's roomate in rehab and his friendship helped my father get better. For this I am greatful. I am very sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family! May Warren live on through your memories! RIP Warren!

I was very lucky to have Warren for a roommate at Starr Farm during my three weeks of rehab. Became friends and stayed in touch via e-mails or on the phone. We were planning a lunchen. My löse for not doing it sooner. He made my stay much easier during rehab and the nurses and staff would come into our room and they new we would be watching some kind of sports or Warren on the phone with family or friends. Will miss you my friend. God Bless and my prayers go out to the family. Home to see you all at Burke in October.

Warren's creative energy and mindful insights transformed skiing for a generation of athletes. And he was always willing to share the message.

For more than a decade Warren and I have shared a love of UCONN women's basketball as well as a broad sentiment of curiosity of why things are the way they are when there were obvious solutions and improvements available. Warren's mind rarely turned off and was always boiling with some insight or idea for how things could be made better. The hours we spent on the phone in conversations on footwear, foul shooting, ski equipment, bio-mechanics, school and education, and a dozen other topics will be greatly missed. He understood what it was to be blessed to be a blessing.

Warren was a profoundly nice man, always willing to take the time to share his insight to help an athlete to improve in any sport. He will be missed.

On the UConn Womens Basketball site the Boneyard Warrens screen name was Ole Coach. He was loved by all and his knowledge and wit were unique. God Bless you Ole Coach. We miss you. Tonyc
