LUCILLE BOURASSA WINOOSKI / WOONSOCKET, R.I. - Lucille Bourassa, 93, of Winooski, formerly of Woonsocket, R.I., died peacefully at St. Joseph's Residential Care Home in Burlington, on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, following a brief illness. Lucille was born in Yamaska, P.Q., Canada, on Dec. 5, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Rose Anne (Duhamel) Parenteau, and was educated in Quebec. She received a Certificate of Competence from the Hospital General de la Misericorde in Montreal, Quebec, in 1946 for training in pediatric care. She was married in Rhode Island in 1958 to Romeo O. Bourassa, who predeceased her in August 1968. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Edna Leveille, Cecile Parenteau, and Jeanne D'Arc Fortin; and brothers, Donat, Armand, Phillipe and Isadore Parenteau, all from Quebec, Canada. Lucille was employed for many years as a nurses' aide with the Hospice of St. Anthony. In 1993, after having been retired for several years, Lucille moved to Vermont to be nearer to her family. She enjoyed playing Bingo, and shopping and having lunch with her sister. Lucille is survived by her sister, Irene Tessier of Burlington; nieces and nephews, Rene and Albert Renault of Woonsocket, R.I., Jeannine Coltey of Clinton, Mass., Nancy and Bill Brace of Burlington, Robert and Joan Tessier of Lakeland, Fla., and Suzanne Way of South Burlington. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Canada, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Visiting hours for Lucille will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St., in Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Barlow Street in Winooski. Interment will be in the family lot in Rhode Island at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Anne Goering, Dorothy Delaney, and all of the staff at St. Joseph's, especially the nursing staff, who took such wonderful and compassionate care of Lucille in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph's Residential Care Home, 243 North Prospect St., Burlington, VT 05401.
