HECTOR E. BOUTIN - ESSEX CENTER - Hector E. Boutin, 60, a lifelong resident of Essex Center, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at his home surrounded by loving family following a short illness. Hector was born in Colchester on March 16, 1953, the son of Edward O. and Annette (Pigeon) Boutin. He graduated from Essex High School in 1971. Hector was very lucky to meet his soulmate at the young age of 14. A love developed between Hector and Debbie that lasted and grew stronger with each passing year. Hector and Debbie became one on June 25, 1977. From that point on the adventures began with many friends and family. Hector was born into farming and that would remain in his blood throughout his lifetime. He had no greater pleasure than being on the farm and would often have dreams of farming. He enjoyed working hard for many years on the family farm in Essex Center. When the farm was sold, Hector switched careers and together with his wife, Debbie, met many more adventures and obstacles while owning and operating Vermont Commercial Warehouse, and made many more memories and friendships. His most rewarding job was becoming "Tettay" to his grandsons, Liam and Riley, and granddaughter, Reese. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grand- children, whether brush hogging on the John Deere, four wheeler rides in the corn field, or letting the grandkids "Captain" the boat at camp. In most recent years, Hector could be found out in his beloved barn, puttering with his tools, creating a masterpiece or simply just sitting, enjoying life and being in the moment. A hero comes in many forms and each are called into service in many different ways. Some people are seen in the limelight and some are seen behind the scenes. Hector's service can be described as selfless. He was always there to help family and friends whenever needed. Hector is survived by his wife of 36 years, Debbie Boutin; children, Jason Boutin and wife, Jaime, and Jessica Moulton; grandchildren, Liam, Riley, and Reese; mother, Annette Boutin; sisters, Noella LaFountain and husband, Steve, and Leanne Vance and husband, Randy; brother-in-law, Waldo Siple; mother-in-law, Dora Godfrey; Debbie's siblings and spouses, Michael and Gail Godfrey, Paul and Trish Godfrey, and Lisa and Geoff Dike; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Edward; brother, Mark; sister, Arlene Siple; and father-in-law, Edgar Godfrey. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski.
