LESTER A. WILLETTE - WINDSOR, Conn. - Lester A. Willette, 90, of Windsor, Conn., formerly of Winooski, Vt., beloved husband for 64 years of Lorraine (Rocheleau) Willette, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in Hartford Hospital. Born in Brattleboro, Vt., to the late Wilfred and Rose (Duell) Willette, he was a member of St. Gabriel Church and has been a Windsor, Conn., resident for over 35 years. Lester served his country proudly with the US Army Air Corps during W.W.II as a nose gunner on a B24 Liberator. Lester was a member of the Tobacco Valley Flyers and numerous other local model airplane clubs. His skillful building of model aircraft, which he enjoyed all his life, earned him the respect of the model airplane community. He was a man of few words but a huge heart. His family meant the world to him. He was an avid golfer with family and friends. Lester enjoyed and took pride in his yard and home. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Besides his wife, Lorraine of Windsor, he is survived by his sons, Glenn L. Willette and wife, Denise, of Jericho, Vt., Mark J. Willette and wife, Karen, of Colchester, Vt., and Alan U. Willette of East Granby, Conn.; grandchildren, Amy Harrington and husband, Ryan, Laura and Emily Willette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor, Conn., followed by burial with military honors in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, Conn.
