PETER E. HASKELL - MILTON - Peter E. Haskell, 58, died on Friday, March 28, 2014, in the Vermont Respite House, in Williston. He was born in Ipswich, Mass., on Aug. 2, 1955, the son of Robert H. and Lillian (Wilson) Haskell. He was a graduate of Ipswich High School. On Oct. 15, 1983, he was married in Gloucester, Mass., to the love of his life, Amy DeGennaro. They later moved to Vermont to be closer to family. Peter had a great love of animals, often rescuing dogs, cats, and even baby skunks. He was an avid XC and downhill skier, a fixture for many years on the trails in Stowe. Peter spent his summers as a child living on a boat on Lake Winnipesaukee with his grandmother, Barbara, who was influential in his love of animals, skiing and boating. He spent his recent years cruising Lake Champlain in his purple Baja. His other passion was visiting old amusement parks, especially Kennywood in West Mifflin, Pa., where he would win giant stuffed animals and give them away to children to watch the smiles on their faces. Peter worked in the auto body industry for many years as a technician and manager. This led him to his last job of 10 years as an Insurance Appraiser. Peter leaves his wife, Amy Haskell of Milton; two brothers, Robert of Maine and Dana of Florida; his nephew, Kirk Haskell and wife, Mary, and their children, Havalin and Bryce, who are very close to Peter and Amy; his dogs, especially his best buddy, Augie; and his other nieces and nephews, James, Joshua, Sara, and Hannah. There will be a gathering to celebrate Peter's life on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Dr., Essex Junction. To send online condolences, please visit www.readyfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
