LEONARD "PETE" LAMPMAN JR. - COLUMBIA, S.C./COLCHESTER, Vt. - Leonard "Pete" Lampman Jr., 95, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in the Rice Estate Nursing Home in Columbia, S.C. Leonard was born on June 4, 1918, in St. Albans, the son of Leonard and Elizabeth (Marquette) Lampman. Leonard was activated to serve in the US Army in 1941. He married Betty Fife on April 1, 1942, in All Saints Catholic Church in Richford, then returned to the war, serving during W.W.II, until 1945. He returned to Vermont, where he worked at Union Carbide. In 1957, he began working at IBM, retiring in 1983 as a Tool and Die Maker. Leonard was also a member of the American Legion in Vergennes. He and Betty had lived on Alshire Road in Colchester for many years. Following Betty's death in 2005, he moved to South Carolina. Leonard is survived by his children and spouses, Peter and Tara Lampman of Columbia, S.C., David and Diane Lampman of Hinesburg, and Linda Dumas of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; grandchildren, Amy, Alison and Ian; and great-grandsons, Brent, David and Jacob. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rupert and Robert Lampman; sister, Margaret Monaghan; and son-in-law, Craig Dumas. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton. Burial will be in the Fort Ethan Allen Cemetery in Colchester at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014.
