THERESA J. MONGEON - WINOOSKI - Theresa J. Mongeon, 97, a longtime resident of Winooski and most recently of Burlington, died at home on Sunday, June 8, 2014, with family at her side, following a short illness. Theresa was born in Barton on April 1, 1917, the daughter of Arthur and Rose Emma (Poutre) Larocque. She was married to Armond O. Mongeon, who predeceased her in 1979. Theresa dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, gardening, and was a problem solver, often maintaining the house and property. She was a supporter of the missions, seminarians, and St. Francis Xavier Parish. Theresa is survived by her children, Mary Brooks and her husband, Paul, of Colchester, Tom Mongeon and his wife, Lynn, of Ottawa, Canada, Elizabeth Eikenberry of Seneca, S.C., and Paulette Wright of Seneca, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joan Jocelyn; and sisters, Yolande Larocque and Mary Beth Poirier. Theresa's family wish to offer their sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Cathedral Square Assisted Living, the Visiting Nurse Association/Hospice of the Champlain Valley, and friends, Louise and George Fillmann, for assisting her with compassion and dignity. A special thanks to friends, Bobbi and Dick Perez. Family and friends will visit on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12 noon at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on St. Peter Street in Winooski. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
