ELAINE E. (KULL) LILEY Obituary
ELAINE E. (KULL) LILEY - LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Elaine E. (Kull) Liley, 84, mother of Betsy Liley and mother-in-law of Roman Goz, died Thursday, June 19, 2014. Elaine was born on March 2, 1930, and was married Aug. 16, 1963, to Peter E. Liley, who died in March 2009. With her better half Peter, Elaine was a great hostess and dancer. She was an avid gardener and an enthusiastic traveler. Elaine, after recovering from a stroke in late 2012, completed more than two dozen watercolors and a few acrylics. She was a career woman in the 1950s and 1960s. While at White-Westinghouse, she worked in the test kitchen and contributed to the "The Betty Furness Westinghouse Cook Book," by Julia Kiene, a classic that continues to be sold today. Elaine also helped to develop and then to demonstrate Westinghouse's first microwave oven. In another job she created a cleverly named news- letter, "Miss-Elaine-eous." She managed he family's farm until 2013, when the property celebrated 97 years of being owned by the Kull Family. She left work to raise her family and continued and expanded her volunteer efforts for the Democrats, her church, school and community organizations. Services will be held in Lafayette, Ind. The Hippensteel Funeral Home is entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at www.hippensteelfuneralservice.com.
