JOYCE LOUISE SNYDER - SOUTH BURLINGTON - Joyce Louise (Fitzsimonds) Snyder, 74, of South Burlington, passed away, with her family at her side, after a year of bravely battling cancer on July 17, 2014. Born in Jericho on Sept. 24, 1939, to the late James and Gertrude Fitzsimonds. Joyce graduated from Jericho High School in 1957. Joyce attended the O'Brien's School of Cosmetology, was a hairdresser at O'Briens on Main Street and later worked at, and retired from, both Digital Equipment and IBM. Her most important role though, was wife and mother. Devoted wife to Robert E. Snyder of South Burlington; wonderful mother and mother-in-law to Scott and Gretchen Snyder; and proud grandmother of Griffin and Dylan Snyder, all of Rye, N.Y. She is survived by her sister, Sarah O'Brien and her husband, Burke; brother-in-law, John Lawrence; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Lawrence. A special thanks to Sarah, Jay and Maryse O'Brien and Sister Virginia Moran for their love and attentiveness in her final days. The family extends heartfelt and grateful thanks to the many friends and VNA caregivers who offered their kind thoughts, prayers and assistance during this most trying of times. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 160 Hinesburg Rd., South Burlington. Burial will take place at a later date in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Richmond. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 20, 2014, from 3 to 6 p.m., in Ready Funeral and Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington.
