EDWARD JUDSON WYNKOOP WOODSTOCK - Edward Judson Wynkoop, Jr., 91, died at Friday, April 10, 2009 in the Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor. Mr. Wynkoop was born on May 23, 1917 in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of Edward Judson, Sr. and Florence (Niver) Wynkoop. Mr. Wynkoop was a graduate of Syracuse High School and Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. He served in the United States Navy as a Lt. Commander during World War II. Mr. Wynkoop married Nancy Leeds on Dec. 22, 1945. They lived in New York City for a while and Mr. Wynkoop worked at Tucker Anthony until they moved to Darien, Conn. in 1948. He worked in Stamford, Conn. as an investment advisor. In 1969, the Wynkoops moved to Woodstock, where Mr. Wynkoop was affiliated with Fraser Managements in Burlington. Mr. Wynkoop was a member of the Lakota Club, Rotary International, the American Legion, The Holland Society, and the Round Table. He also served as the Republican Town Chairman, on the St. James Church Finance Committee, and the Finance Committee of the Woodstock Historical Society. He enjoyed fly fishing, and stamp and coin collecting. He is survived by his daughter Alexandra "Aleka" Wynkoop of South Burlington. A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Woodstock on May 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. Rev. Christina Brannock-Wanter will officiate. Burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery in South Woodstock. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, P. O. Box 702, Brownsville, VT 05037. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.
